Nicholas Phillips

Principal Architect/Director

BA(hons) Dip/Arch. RIBA
Nick is the Principal Architect and Director at NP Architects founding the company in 2017. Previously he was Principal Architect/Director at DPA Architects and Once Architecture. He has over twenty-five years experience in the residential sector with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of design, planning, construction and project management.

Nick attended Central St Martins and trained as an Architect at University of North London.

Several of Nick's designs have been won local & regional awards and been nominated for national awards. In 2013 he was awarded a silver medal in the Cambridge Marshall’s ‘DraWing’ development competition within the housing category. His project ‘The Pastures’ in 2016 was awarded ‘best small development’ by Cambridge Property Awards and 'Reflections' won the same award in 2017. As well as being passionate about design Nick is particular about the technical details of each project, key for local developers and two of the practice's projects have reached the LABC (technical awards) grand finals in 2019 and 2023.

He has a creative background & his interests include photography & all aspects of architecture.

Michael McKay

Associate

BSc(hons) MCIAT
Michael is a Chartered Architectural Technologist and Certified Passive House Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture and planning industry. He has built up a high level of technical and sustainable building knowledge and can provide design services on passive house projects using the passive house planning package (PHPP).

Michael is interested in the global environment and enjoys travel and sailing. He has journeyed coast to coast across north America and intends to visit one new country each year.

Dan Jones

Senior Architect

BA(Hons) BArch PG.Cert ARB RIBA
Dan studied architecture at both Birmingham (UCE) and Bristol (UWE) universities, and it was at Bristol that he received a nomination for the RIBA Presidents Medal award. Alongside his studies Dan has worked in a number of architectural practices in various locations including, Hereford, the Forest of Dean and Tewkesbury, focusing mainly on the residential sector.
Dan took a side step in his career following gaining his Architect qualification in 2010 working as a contracts manager/site foreman for a housing developer in the east of England. The experience broadened Dan’s knowledge and understanding of the putting together of buildings.
Dan has since been practicing as an Architect, in his own right, prior to joining NP Architects, working on a broad range of residential projects including refurbishment, extensions, new build and listed buildings.
Dan enjoys walking his pet dog Brian, cycling and travel (outside of pandemic constraints).

Fiona Phillips

Finance Director

BSc. (hons) MBA
Fiona is responsible for the company finances & general business systems. Fiona brings to the team her business expertise as a management consultant working with clients in Europe & the United States. Prior to this she worked as a project manager at GlaxoSmithKline leading a number of international projects. Also as a line manager she has managed a team of twenty five staff & was responsible for quality, performance, safety & finance.

Outside of work Fiona enjoys exercise classes & her love of music. She has sung with ‘Rock Choir’ at both the NEC & O2. Fiona (& Nick) are parents of a set of triplets, ensuring life at home is lively & sometimes challenging but never dull.

Mateusz Pieta

Project Architect

MSc. Arch Eng, ARB, DipArch.
Mateusz studied architecture in Poland, qualifying in 2014 and worked on residential projects before setting up his own business, collaborating with several practices. After moving to the UK, Mateusz gained experience on small to medium scale projects in the residential and commercial sectors, including working in Revit on the refurbishment of high-end residential projects in London. Mateusz joined the practice in October 2021.
His passion lies with quality architectural design, bespoke furniture, photography and interior design. Outside of work he enjoys travel, cycling and music and spending time with his young family.

Anastasija Ladcenko

Project Architect

BSc(hons) Arch. M.Arch PgDip RIBA
Anastasija graduated from Welsh School of Architecture with first-class Bachelors and Masters degrees. She joined the practice in August 2020 and together with Alex Sage returned to the Cardiff school to study for her part III, qualifying as an Architect in June 2023.
Anastasija, working along side our Principal Architect has been designing some of our larger homes for private clients and has been leading the practice's development of our interior design service.

In her free time Anastasija enjoys oil painting, cooking and home decorating. She has been practicing art from the age of seven, taking courses in several art schools including the Repin Academic Institute of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg and presented five individual art exhibitions of graphic prints and painting in 2013-2019.

Anastasija qualified as an Architect in June 2023

Alex Sage

Project Architect

BArch (Hons), MArch, PgDipArch, ARB, RIBA
Alex graduated with first-class honours in his BArch and with distinction in his MArch prior to joining the team in 2020. He completed his PgDipArch and qualified as an architect in 2023.

Having worked on projects in London and Cambridgeshire, he has experience in both urban and rural settings, predominantly in the residential sector. He is interested in creating considered, atmospheric architecture which is rooted in its context, creates a sense of place and provokes a positive emotional response.

Alex is an avid reader with a growing library of architecture books. He enjoys travelling and visiting sites of architectural and cultural interest and will take any opportunity to snowboard.

Matt Coles

Part I Architectural Assistant

BSc(hons) Arch
Matt studied architecture at the University of Bath, earning a 2:1 BSc (hons) degree. He joined the practice in November 2018 and has prior experience on small to medium scale projects in the residential, private and community sectors. Interests include photography, film making and music. Matt is our specialist in Visuals.

Louise Lister

Architectural Draughtsman

BEng(hons) Mech. Eng.
Louise has worked in the architectural profession in Cambridge for over eighteen years. She has produced drawing packages for a range of residential projects from small bespoke extensions to large housing developments.

Before transferring into architecture, Louise worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer in fields such as outside broadcasting. During this time she was involved in the design of performance stages, including a design used by the Rolling Stones.

She also played a major part in the development of the Medusa computer-aided design (CAD/CAM/CAE) software.

Louise enjoys water-skiing and motorsports.
