Project Description

This scheme of eleven apartments replaced an unremarkable single dwelling on a large prominent corner site. The white render and curved forms clearly reference a 1930’s aesthetic manifest in the modernist ‘Sun House’ located nearby. The dynamic fluid forms also echo the geometry of the traffic roundabout at the junction of Mowbray Road and Queen Edith’s Way, from where the building is most visible. The scheme was nominated for the RICS awards in 2008 and has inspired the recent development at 33 Queen Edith’s way opposite, for which we were responsible for the detailed design and construction drawings. Together, these buildings have reinforced the character of the area.
