Project Description
Construction has recently been completed for this development comprising of 14No. two-bedroom flats. These have been accommodated within three separate blocks.
The proposed buildings have been conceived as near identical, simple gable-ended forms that not only reflect the massing of Fen View Court adjacent, but also numerous boathouse typologies found along the river Cam. Together, they attempt to create a coherent form of development on this stretch of river frontage. Internally, the flats have been laid out with the main open-plan living/dining/kitchen area given a southerly aspect to take advantage of views across Stourbridge Common. Some of the units have duplex layouts with accommodation on both floors. This principal elevation incorporates recessed balconies, with the amount of glazing maximised, and louvers are added to provide solar shading.
The proposal had wider public benefits, notably facilitating improvements to the Fen Road level-crossing and enabling works' access for the construction of the new cycle bridge across the river in this key location.
