This scheme proposes a contemporary 2.5 storey block containing a total of 9No. flats following the demolition of the existing building. The proposed development is intended to improve this somewhat neglected site by providing a positive built-form that addresses both the street frontage and the access road to the side. From Water Street, the design has been conceived as a simple 2.5 storey rectangular terraced form with a two storey projecting rear wing. The design is intended to respond to the scale of the adjoining properties and the new scheme of flats currently under construction to the rear. The second floor element is articulated with a combination of dormers and gables. Deep brick reveals with the windows set back 300-400mm have been introduced on the Water Street elevation to provide further articulation and interest - these will be provided with vertical timber louvers to provide additional privacy and solar shading for the large areas of glass. Planning consent was granted in August 2018.
