Project Description
A young professional couple, vibrant and always on the move, reached out for help furnishing their living space. They sought a design that would not only enhance functionality but also stay within their budget. The existing space, defined by raw concrete ceilings and off-white walls, provided a foundation for a modern, slightly brutalist aesthetic. However, to soften the starkness and prevent the space from feeling cold, we introduced layers of textures.
Textiles, a soft woven rug, and cosy throws added a welcoming touch. Dark, graphic accents brought depth and contrast, while a bold red chair served as a striking focal point, breaking up the otherwise monochrome palette. The red was subtly echoed in elements of a painting, ensuring a cohesive visual flow.
Given the couple’s love for weekend cycling adventures, incorporating their bicycles as a functional and design feature was essential. The bikes were mounted on the wall, blending practicality with visual interest. To complement the graphic nature of the bike frames and the circular forms they introduced, a black circular coffee table and a half-round element in the artwork were added, creating balance in the space. The resulting design maintained a minimalist, modern aesthetic while improving the functionality of the space.
