This scheme involved the redevelopment of former dilapidated farm buildings to form a total of 15 residential units including a block of 6 flats. Our involvement followed a previous Planning refusal which necessitated a new look to the site. Constraints included flood risk, retaining access to the farm beyond, and proximity to Listed Buildings.
The approach was to create a main building fronting the high street which was domestic in character to reflect that of a single principal residence. The remaining buildings were of a lower scale and set in a courtyard arrangement not unlike a traditional ‘farmyard cluster’. Bricks and tiles were re-used from the former buildings for some of the boundary walls and carports.
