This scheme replaced a former C20 dwelling with 10No. flats. A contemporary approach which responds to the surrounding industrial vernacular has been taken. The roof shape has been conceived to relate to the surrounding metal workshops which use saw-tooth roof shapes to light the spaces within. These pitched roof forms will also provide a transition in scale from the possible future four-storey frontage (as described in the Eastern Gate Development Framework) down towards the nearby performing arts building. The proposed palette of materials are a light coloured brick with a darker brick used for the entrance area, aluminium windows and a pre-patinated grey/black zinc roof.
